The ASI-MV® is an evidence-based, consumer self-administered assessment tool for clinical teams in organizations providing behavioral health and substance use treatment services. It is based on the widely used Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and provides clinical information, severity ratings and composite scores in seven life domains: Medical; employment; alcohol; drug; legal; family/social; and psychological.

Behavioral health professionals use the ASI-MV to conduct standardized, thorough substance-use assessments and to gather data on client outcomes.  The benefits of utilizing the ASI-MV include:

Streamlined assessments

The self-administered ASI-MV interview is a consistent, standardized, research-tested tool that:

  • Saves your agency the time and expense of staff ASI administration
  • Engages consumers and facilitates more self-disclosure and accurate data
  • Enables you to increase the number of assessments and reduce consumer waiting times

Expedited treatment planning

ASI-MV’s clinical reports are immediately available and designed to assist you in making the right treatment decisions for your clients. They include:

  • Narrative Report – Translates the raw data from ASI-MV interviews into a customizable narrative report with severity ratings, composite scores, psychiatric risk factors and other detailed information
  • Client Placement Worksheet – Populates the six ASAM dimensions with relevant data from across all ASI-MV domains, to assist clinicians in making level-of-care placement decisions
  • Treatment Planning Tool – Presents information from across all ASI-MV domains, clustered in a clinically useful manner, to facilitate treatment plan development

Simplified data gathering

The Analytics Data Center gives you a tool for taking assessment to the next level and increasing the quality of care in your program. The system automatically uploads HIPAA-compliant ASI-MV consumer data, de-identified and in aggregate form, to Analytics for your review. You can use it to:

  • Monitor progress and outcomes by viewing changes in the composite scores of the population you serve in real-time
  • Compare data across sites within an organization, as well as with national data
  • Gather accurate information about your population for strategic planning, program development, and grant submissions
