Simon Budman, Ph.D.
Founder, President & CEO
Dr. Budman, an internationally known researcher, innovator, and entrepreneur, founded Inflexxion in 1989. Prior to launching Inflexxion, Dr. Budman served as the director of mental health research at Harvard Community Health Plan and associate director of the Institute for Health Research at the Harvard School of Public Health. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh and was trained as a clinical psychologist. He has authored over 100 publications on behavioral health care, substance abuse and technology topics.
Susan Budman, M.S.W.
Co-Founder
Susan has over 20 years of experience in program and research management and handles a broad range of roles and responsibilities pertaining to corporate administration. Prior to co-founding Inflexxion, she held administrative positions at New England Research Institute and Harvard Community Health Plan, and on the RAND Medical Outcomes Study. Susan received her M.S.W. from Boston College.
Stephen Butler, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President/Chief Science Officer
As chief science officer, Dr. Butler uses his expertise in statistics to develop psychometrically sound assessments and experimental design. Prior to joining Inflexxion, he served as director of psychology at Northeast Psychiatric Associates/Brookside Hospital in Nashua, N.H. A National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Fellow in psychotherapy and psychotherapy research at Vanderbilt University's Center for Psychotherapy Research, Dr. Butler worked under Hans H. Strupp, one of the founding fathers of modern psychotherapy research. He earned his Ph.D. from Emory University and completed his internship and postdoctoral training through Yale Medical School.
Tom Moore, M.B.A.
Chief Financial Officer
Tom, whose career has exposed him to a wide range of financial and operational challenges, brings a broad base of business knowledge to his role as CFO. Prior to joining Inflexxion, he was partner and CFO of a start-up software development company. Tom earned his M.B.A. from Northeastern University and his bachelors in psychology from the University of Connecticut.
Albert Villapiano, Ed.D.
Vice President of Clinical Development
Dr. Albert Villapiano leads Inflexxion's behavioral health efforts and the ongoing enhancement and implementation of the Addiction Severity Index-Multimedia Version (ASI-MV) system. He is also a co-principal investigator on several National Institute of Health (NIH) grants, and a licensed Psychologist who received his doctorate from Boston University in 1983. Dr. Villapiano has over 25 years of experience as a clinician, trainer, researcher, administrator and consultant and has held academic appointments at Harvard University and Boston University Medical Schools. His primary interests are the development and implmenetation of innovative processes and tools to improve the quality of behavioral health assessment, treatment, and outcome. Among his publications is Time-Effective Treatment: A Best Practices Manual for Substance Abuse Professionals, (2003). Emil Chiauzzi, Ph.D.
Vice President of Product Strategy
Dr. Chiauzzi specializes in online health support interventions. He has developed a variety of programs for preventing HIV in substance abusers, relapse in alcoholism, and impaired driving. As principal investigator on 25 SBIR grants, he has taken a leadership role in the development and testing of our college health programs. He has also served on several NIH grant review committees and is currently chair of the SBIR Health of the Populations Committee. Dr. Chiauzzi has published extensively in the areas of substance abuse treatment and computer-mediated programs. He is the author of Preventing Relapse in the Addictions (Allyn & Bacon) and the primary author of Time-Effective Treatment (Hazelden). He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the State University of New York at Albany.
Andrea Licari, M.B.A.
Chief Operating Officer
Andrea manages organization operations by establishing strategy, direction, and implementation consistent with company goals, objectives, and policies. Andrea oversees the Project Management, Research Coordination, and Pharmaceutical Client Relations departments to ensure quality product development and delivery to clients. Andrea leads efforts in staff development and structure, resourcing, and implementing processes and procedures across the company. Prior to joining Inflexxion, Andrea worked at Brigham and Women's Hospital's Division of Pharmacoepidemiology where she managed several disease management interventions. Andrea holds a bachelors degree in biology from Colgate University and an M.B.A., concentration in organizational behavior, from Suffolk University.
Deb Ryley, M.B.A.
Vice President of Technology
Deb has over 20 years of experience in software development and technology. As vice president, Deb provides the overall strategy, direction, and guidance for the technology organization and helps to ensure the success of the overall company goals and objectives. In this role, Deb oversees Creative Services, Software Product Development, Information Management and Delivery, as well as Technical Operations. Deb also serves as the Information Security and Privacy Officer, responsible for the ongoing management and implementation of all information security policies, procedures, and technology. Prior to joining Inflexxion, Deb worked at Spire.com as CTO and at Circles as CIO. Deb holds a bachelors degree from Barrington College and an M.B.A. from Salem State College.
Mike Waldron, M.B.A.
Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Mike brings more than 25 years of successful sales, sales management and marketing experience to Inflexxion. Mike has extensive experience in building highly successful sales teams, developing new markets and growing organizations. He previously held positions as Director of National Accounts at Silverlink Communications, Vice President of North American Operations at X.HLP, Inc. and Director of North American Sales at Percussion Software. Mike received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Salem State College, a Bachelor of Science in business administration from University of New Hampshire and completed an M.B.A. from University of Southern New Hampshire.
Kevin Zacharoff, M.D., F.A.C.P.E., F.A.A.P., F.A.C.I.P.
Vice President of Medical Affairs
Dr. Zacharoff is a licensed, Board Certified, Anesthesiologist with more than 25 years of clinical experience in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine after completing residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College. He is an Emeritus Member of the Medical Staff of St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in New York, and currently holds a Faculty Appointment as a Clinical Instructor, and teaches at the State University of New York at Stony Brook Medical School. Since retiring from clinical practice, Dr. Zacharoff has successfully served as a consultant in the pain management field for 5 years, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives. He has guided the development of a number of programs including: strategic medical education programs, marketing direction, pharmaceutical sales representative training, and therapeutic relevance initiatives. In addition to guiding content and strategy in Inflexxion's various pain and risk management projects, Dr. Zacharoff is co-author of the newly published www.PainEDU.org Manual Pocket Guide to Pain Management, 4th Edition. Dr. Zacharoff is an active member of the American Pain Society, the Pediatric Special Interest Group of the American Pain Society, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Voices Against Brain Cancer Foundation.
