Using real-time data from a network of substance abuse clinics across the U.S., DETER provides a dynamic measurement of the rates of abuse and illicit routes of administration for a specific opioid in comparison with other prescription opioid products. It also allows the scientific assessment of a drug’s attractiveness to populations of abusers over time, as well as the monitoring of new strategies for defeating its abuse-deterrent properties.
DETER is an innovative approach to measuring abuse deterrence, and can provide pharmaceutical companies and regulatory agencies with empirical pre- and post-launch indicators of a drug's effectiveness for limiting abuse and its consequences.
DETER is comprised of three components:
Abuse Deterrent Adjusted Measurement Model (ADAMM™)
ADAMM provides DETER subscribers with a standardized metric for abuse deterrence that is based on accurate, real-time data from substance abuse clinics nationwide. Subscribers are able to compare the "odds ratio" for abuse among formulations for pre- and post-market analysis.
Rx Opioid Attractiveness Measure (ROAM™)
Using proprietary scientific methods, ROAM measures the relative attractiveness to abusers of a particular opioid formulation in relationship to a range of comparable drugs. It also enables subscribers to track changes in attractiveness of their product over time.
Internet-based Prescription Opioid Surveillance Technology (iPOST™)
iPOST leverages advanced surveillance technology to monitor the Internet, alerting subscribers to the rise of new techniques and recipes for extracting the active drug from a formulation.
Combining DETER with its complement, NAVIPPRO™, a turnkey risk management solution for companies that develop and market prescription opioids, offers a comprehensive risk management and abuse deterrence strategy.
